Elizabeth “Betsey” Beebe Avery
Elizabeth Beebe was born on October 2, 1789, in Blue Point, New York, to Revolutionary War Veteran Captain Eliphalet Beebe, and Sarah Smith, daughter of one of the founders of The Union Church in Patchogue, Ananais Smith. She married Joseph W. Avery, son of Revolutionary War Veteran Humphrey Avery III on June 30, 1811, in East Patchogue. They had 12 children together including twin daughters who lived to adulthood. She died on February 17, 1882, in Patchogue, at the impressive age of 92 and is buried in the Union Cemetery. Hers is one of the headstones on our list to be righted and reset.
